Read and leave reviews for all providers in the UK

At Everytel, we cover all providers active in the UK. If youโ€™re an existing customer, you can leave a review of your experiences, and if youโ€™re weighing up different options, you can read reviews and easily compare each providerโ€™s services โ€“ from pay as you go SIMs and SIM only deals to both fixed and mobile broadband.

With so many providers on the market today, choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. However, it is actually quite straightforward โ€“ as long as you focus on certain factors when comparing the different options. Below, weโ€™ve listed the key considerations to keep in mind to help you make the best and most cost-effective choice.

Choose your provider based on the following factors

Network coverage or availability

If youโ€™re looking to buy a SIM only plan, pay as you go SIM or mobile broadband, comparing the network coverage in your area is an essential first step. Without good network coverage, your service simply wonโ€™t deliver what you need.

Tip! Read more about the providers’ network coverage on our page Which network has the best coverage?

If youโ€™re looking for fixed broadband, your address determines which providers and speeds are available to you. On the broadband providersโ€™ websites, youโ€™ll always start by entering your postcode to check if they can supply broadband to your home, and if so, which speeds and prices apply.

Range on offer

The range of services can vary significantly between different providers. Some offer both SIM only, pay as you go SIM and various types of broadband, while others may focus solely on SIM only. Start by checking which providers offer the specific service youโ€™re looking for, then choose the provider whose range of data allowances or speeds best matches your preferences and needs.

Prices

Just as the range of services on offer varies, so do prices between different providers, with the larger providers generally charging moreโ€”sometimes by a large margin. However, these bigger providers usually offer a wider selection and more comprehensive support. That said, this doesnโ€™t necessarily reflect the actual quality, as there are several so-called budget providers that offer an excellent range and responsive supportโ€”even if this is not as comprehensive.

Ultimately, it comes down to your own preferences and priorities. The most important thing is not to choose a provider based solely on price. Instead, draw up a few options that meet your other requirements and then pick the most affordable among them.

Service and support

Some providers offer support by phone, chat and email, while others only provide one of these contact options. If you value being able to speak directly with support and receive personal guidance should you encounter any issues, the level of customer service is an important factor to consider when comparing your options.

Which mobile providers are the largest in the UK?

  • Vodafone
  • Three
  • EE
  • O2

Until fairly recently, there were four main networks in the UK: Vodafone, Three, EE and O2. Other mobile providers, known as MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators), lease network capacity from one of these four main networks to offer their own services.

However, in spring 2025, a merger between Vodafone and Three was completed. Operating under the joint brand VodafoneThree, they now form the largest network in the UK and together have the highest number of customers. So, the four main mobile providers have now become three.

The process of merging Vodafoneโ€™s and Threeโ€™s respective networks is still ongoing and is expected to continue for quite some time. However, from summer 2025, existing Vodafone and Three customers will automatically be able to use both networks at no extra cost.

Which mobile provider offers the best network coverage?

According to umlautโ€™s Connect Mobile Network Test 2025, EEโ€™s network offers the best network coverage in the UK, while O2 took first place in Opensignalโ€™s latest survey. Keep in mind that results can vary depending on the type of test carried out, but when looking at the overall network experience, EE still comes out on top โ€“ that is, in terms of network coverage, speeds, and reliability.

That said, network coverage does vary across different parts of the country, which means that neither EE nor O2 can guarantee the best network coverage where you live. Before choosing a SIM only, pay as you go SIM or mobile broadband plan, itโ€™s important to check the providerโ€™s network coverage in your area. On the providersโ€™ websites, you can enter your postcode to see their network coverage and, in some cases, the speeds you can expect.

Who are the largest broadband providers in the UK?

  • BT Group (BT, EE and Plusnet)
  • Sky
  • Virgin Media

Which broadband provider offers the fastest broadband?

Which provider can offer you the fastest broadband depends on where you live in the country. Not all broadband providers are available everywhere, and it is often the case that they do not offer the same high speeds in all areas. That said, Virgin Mediaโ€™s cable broadband network is generally considered the fastest in the UK, mainly because it reaches over 50 percent of the population.

However, this could change in the not-too-distant future. The roll out of full fibre is progressing steadily, and a large proportion of the UK population already has access to broadband offering speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps (or 1 Gbps).

Which providers have the highest customer satisfaction?

When it comes to mobile services, such as SIM only and pay as you go SIM, the smaller providers have the highest overall customer satisfaction โ€“ according to surveys by both Ofcom and Juniper Research. These surveys focus on slightly different factors: Ofcomโ€™s is mainly about providersโ€™ customer support, the number of complaints they receive and how they handle them, while Juniper Research is more product and service-focused, looking at factors like price and network coverage. Regardless, Tesco Mobile and giffgaff consistently come out on top.

Juniper Research does not provide a specific measurement of customer satisfaction among broadband providers, but Ofcom does. According to their survey, Plusnetโ€™s customers are more satisfied than average when it comes to overall satisfaction (that is, the broadband service as a whole). In terms of complaints handling, EE, Plusnet and Sky ranked highest.

Can you switch provider if youโ€™re not satisfied?

Yes, you can switch provider or broadband supplier if youโ€™re not satisfied with your current one. If you donโ€™t have a contract on your subscription, or if it has expired, you can usually switch whenever you like as long as you give the provider at least 30 days notice. However, if you still have a contract remaining, youโ€™ll need to wait until this ends before switching if you want to avoid additional charges.

Tip! On our page Switching mobile provider, you can find out more about how to switch and what you should keep in mind. To end your contract early, you will usually need to pay an early termination fee โ€“ typically equal to the remaining monthly payments. Once youโ€™ve paid this extra charge, youโ€™re free from the contract and can switch to another provider.
